Staff Bios
Dr. Kiki Bennett obtained her veterinary degree from Colorado State University, graduating in 2000. Areas of special interest include oncology, cardiology, internal medicine and preventative/wellness care. She lives in Aloha with her 3 dogs, and 2 cats. Dr. Bennett plays in several community music groups, and participates in the foster care program by providing a place for children in need of a temporary home. She enjoys skiing, horseback riding and is a fierce theme park enthusiast.
Dr. Patti Smith is our part-time associate and also does relief work throughout the Metro area. She graduated from Colorado State University Veterinary College in 2000. Her special professional interests include dermatology, geriatric medicine, Behavior, and client education. In her free time, Patti and her husband love and care for their five cats and three dogs. She also enjoys photography, scuba diving, reading, traveling and hiking.
Kattie, our receptionist, is originally from Yakima, WA and moved to Oregon in 2003. She has two beautiful boys and a baby girl. They spend a lot of time exploring Portland. They enjoy hiking, riding bikes, and sightseeing. Kattie enjoys writing poems and drawing, and hopes one day to write a book. She is musically inclined, playing the accordion, piano, drums and guitar. Kattie adopted Grover, a sweet orange tabby, who was brought in as a stray with an abscess. After successful treatment, Kattie took him to his new home.
Brenda is one of the newest members of our staff and comes to us from Albany Oregon. She grew up in Newport Oregon, lived in Albany for 14 years and moved to the Portland area in May of this year. She graduated from the PCC Veterinary Technology program in 1994 and has been a certified technician for 15 years. Brenda is the proud subject of a 12 year old tuxedo kitty named Tyson. Her hobbies are mixed media painting, piano playing, and reading fiction and non-fiction. She loves watching her CSI!
Tracy moved to the Portland area from southern Oregon with her husband and three kids. Tracy started her career in veterinary medicine two years ago after spending many years in human medicine. Tracy has always had a love for animals. Tracy has three dogs: Berretta, a 4 year old black lab, Guido, a 2 year old maltese, and Fluke, a 4 year old lhasa apso that she adopted from Hart Road Animal Hospital. Tracy has also adopted 2 kittens (Sasha and Pixie) that were born at the clinic.
Sam is one of our youngest members on the Hart Road Animal Hospital Staff. She joined us in September starting as an intern for her school program and enjoyed her experience and decided to stay! Sam enjoys listening to music, watching the thrilling TV series Criminal Minds, and spending time with her family. Sam has no pets, but considers all the animals that come in to the hospital as if they were her own pets. Sam plans to pursue her interests in Veterinary Technology at PCC in the fall of 2011.
Barb is very excited to be a new staff member at Hart Road Animal Hospital. She has been working as a veterinary technician for the past seven years and recieved her Bachelors Degree from Portland State University in General Science in 2003. Raised on a farm, her strong dedication and love of animals was apparent from an early age. Today she raises and cares for her four dogs and two rescued chickens (City? What city?). Barb has three beagles (Tinkerbell, Divet and Charlie) and a cocker spaniel (Minnie). She enjoys taking her dogs on long hikes, or on outings to the beach or dog park. Barb enjoys collecting Disney snowglobes, scrapbooking, going to the Tillamook Cheese Factory and traveling whenever possible.
